& Caring is a patient-driven volunteer network committed to helping
breast cancer survivors on their journey to recovery.
cancer diagnosis initiates an avalanche of questions and worries. The
newly diagnosed patient may not know what to do or where to turn.
Sharing & Caring offers education and support for breast cancer
patients and their families at the time of diagnosis, during treatment
and beyond. All are welcome and services are free of charge.
The Sharing & Caring offices are located in the Wilson Cancer Resource Center
at the Beaumont Medical Center, Sterling Heights (across the bridge
from Beaumont, Troy).
continuing education forum which meets several times quarterly in the
evening. A physician, therapist or other health care professional speaks
briefly on issues of interest to breast cancer patients followed by
informal group discussion. You are welcome to bring questions for the
speakers or others in the group, or you can merely observe.
Newly Diagnosed Notebook
& Caring has developed a comprehensive treatment guidebook to
assist patients through their initial steps to recovery. If you haven’t
received one from your surgeon, please call us or stop by our office to
pick one up.
Support Services for the Newly Diagnosed
counseling, group support and special events through the year offer
opportunities for continuing education and interaction with other
Annual Educational Symposium
event brings together internationally recognized breast cancer experts
and researchers for a day of presentations, Q & A and camaraderie in
a comfortable, friendly setting. Joining together for refreshments or a
light meal allows survivors to get to know one another and realize they
are not alone on their journey.
& Caring acts as a referring agency to other community programs and
services such as psychological counseling, prosthetics, genetics
counseling and more.
