Family Presence and Visitation

It is our goal to provide compassionate, extraordinary care every day. We view patients and families as important members of the health care team, and therefore welcome and support your presence, for you play a vital role in supporting the physical, social and emotional health of your loved one.

Please Remember

At least one person will be welcomed at the patient’s bedside 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and may spend the night in the room with their loved one, as space allows, providing safety can be maintained.

  • family and friends are welcome during the hours of 9 am to 9 pm
  • family lounges are available for family and friends to gather

To help ensure the safety of our patients and staff, some entrances may be locked during late evening and overnight hours. See the chart below for additional instructions »


To help create a safe and healing environment for all, please make note of the following:

  • in general, children under age 16 are welcome in patient care areas; however, they must be accompanied by an adult other than the patient at all times
  • family and friends who are sick should not spend time at the patient’s bedside or in other patient care areas
  • to achieve treatment goals, some units, such as mental health, rehab, women’s and children’s, may have additional guidelines surrounding the presence of family and friends. Please check with your loved one’s nurse for further information.

Additionally, the following items should not be brought into the hospital:

  • no firearms, alcohol, or drugs
  • no matches, candles, and other open-flame devices
  • electrical appliances and cooking utensils
  • personal chairs, blow up mattresses, pillows, blankets and cots

For your comfort, the following amenities are available:

  • a blanket and pillow may be provided when requested
  • 24/7 Access to vending machines on some patient units and lobbies
  • cafeteria and food courts (hours may be limited to daytime hours)
  • gift shops (limited hours)
  • public restrooms are available on each unit

Farmington Hills

Between 8 p.m. - 5 a.m. please use the Emergency Entrance only

Grosse Pointe

Between 8 p.m. - 6 a.m. please use the Main Entrance only

Royal Oak

Between 10 p.m. - 6 a.m. please use the South, North and East Entrances only

Taylor

Between 8 p.m. - 6 a.m. please use the Emergency Entrance only

Trenton

Between 8 p.m. - 6 a.m. please use the Emergency Entrance only

Troy

Between 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. please use the West, Main and Deck Entrances only
