Corewell Health: The new name for Beaumont. Here to make health better.

Comprehensive Stroke Center at Beaumont Royal Oak

Beaumont Royal Oak was the first hospital in Southeast Michigan to obtain Comprehensive Stroke Center designation from the Joint Commission. The maintenance of this certification since 2014 demonstrates Beaumont Royal Oak’s commitment and ability to care for the most complex stroke patients with a dedicated team of specially trained nurses, advanced practice providers (NPs and PAs), neurologists, interventional neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, and rehabilitation specialists.

  • Beaumont Royal Oak provides a number of treatment options for patients with both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke including intravenous tPA (a clot dissolving medication) and endovascular (minimally invasive) treatments for removal of a clot or aneurysm coiling.
  • A team specially trained in stroke care is on hand 24/7 for the emergent evaluation and treatment of individuals presenting with stroke symptoms with the goal of preventing or limiting disability.
  • During a stroke, every second counts. Beaumont Royal Oak’s emergency medicine team ensures timely evaluation and diagnosis of stroke using advanced imaging. In addition to the team outlined above, a multidisciplinary team that may include specialists such as cardiologists, vascular surgeons, hematologists, and interventional neuroradiologists help manage patients post-stroke with an emphasis on determining the possible cause of each patient’s stroke and prevention of future stroke.
