What is the W.E.L.L. Program?

The Women Exercising to Live Longer Program (W.E.L.L.) is a 6-month complimentary exercise program for women who are at risk for developing heart disease. The program consists of aerobic exercise, individual exercise prescription, ongoing meetings with an exercise physiologist, nutrition classes, various exercise classes, educational lectures, and yoga. Women who are selected to enroll in the program are expected to commit to exercise at least 3 days/week for 6-months at the Beaumont Health and Wellness Center in Royal Oak, Michigan. The program is free and there are no associated costs.

Do I qualify for the WELL Program?

Women who wish to enroll must have risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing heart disease, but without known heart disease (heart attack, bypass, etc.).

You must have one of the following risk factors to qualify.

  • Elevated cholesterol
  • Diabetes or pre-diabetes
  • Sedentary lifestyle (not currently participating in regular aerobic exercise)
  • History of cigarette smoking

If you are 55 years of age or older, you automatically qualify.
