Davis Vandercook was born with Marfan Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects the connective tissue throughout the body, including the aorta and heart valves.
Amanda’s usual OB-GYN was unavailable that night, so she and her husband were introduced to the on-call physician, Dr. Carole Condevaux. Amanda immediately recognized the name. Dr. Condevaux had delivered her 28 years earlier at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.
It was June 1987 when two new nurses, fresh out of college, found themselves working on the same unit at Beaumont, Royal Oak. What they didn’t know was this was the beginning of an incredible 35-year friendship.

In early 2021, Paul noticed a lump in his neck. A series of tests revealed throat cancer originating on his tonsils. He was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma.
