Kolins to lead Laboratory Services and Kleinhomer to head Home-Based Services

Mark Kolins, M.D., of Bloomfield Hills, and Deborah Kleinhomer, RN, of Royal Oak, have been named senior vice presidents with Beaumont Health. Both appointments were recently announced by Paul LaCasse, D.O., executive vice president, Post-Acute Care Division and Diversified Business Operations, Beaumont Health.

Dr. Mark Kolins has been appointed senior vice president and corporate laboratory director for Beaumont Health Laboratories. He formerly served as chair, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with Beaumont Hospital – Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak and Troy.

Dr. Kolins began his career at Beaumont Hospital – Troy in 1992 and in 1993 became vice chief of Laboratories and in 2000 became chief. In 2006, he became chief of Clinical Pathology at Beaumont – Royal Oak.

In his new role, Dr. Kolins will establish the organizational structure and management team for Beaumont Health Laboratories.

Says Dr. LaCasse, “Dr. Kolins’ experience and leadership skills will help guide all eight hospitals through the integration process, enabling Beaumont Health to reach its goal of becoming a pre-eminent regional outreach laboratory. This includes supporting clinicians at our hospitals, ambulatory sites and physician offices.”

Dr. Kolins earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Beaumont Hospital – Royal Oak, where he served as chief resident for Clinical Pathology. He later became a Blood Banking Fellow through Beaumont – Royal Oak and the American Red Cross. He is currently a professor and chairman of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine for Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.

Like Dr. Kolins, Deborah Kleinhomer, RN, was also named a senior vice president by Dr. LaCasse. She was appointed senior vice president, Home-Based Services for Beaumont Health. She formerly served as vice president of Home Health Services for Beaumont Hospital – Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak and Troy.

Kleinhomer began her career at Beaumont in 1995 as director of Home Care. In 1998, she became the director of Care Management at Beaumont – Troy. After Beaumont purchased the former Bon Secours Hospital, she was named the administrative director of Operations at Beaumont – Grosse Pointe in 2008.

In her new role, Kleinhomer will establish the structure and management team for Beaumont Health’s Home-Based Services. These services include home care, home medical equipment, home infusion, hospice and private duty services.

“Deborah and her team will be responsible for creating a patient-centered and clinically integrated approach to home-based services for all of Beaumont Health,” explains Dr. LaCasse. “The purpose of the consolidation is to drive growth, efficiencies, and most importantly compassionate and extraordinary care for our Beaumont Health patients at home.”

Kleinhomer earned her nursing degree at Madonna University and a master’s in nursing, Community Health at Wayne State University. In 1990, she was a recipient of a Nightingale Award: Excellence in Nursing Practice presented by the Oakland University School of Nursing.
