Liver Disease

At Beaumont, our liver disease specialists - hepatologists, gastroenterologists and liver surgeons - work together to provide each patient with comprehensive, multidisciplinary liver disease treatment strategies. This includes innovative, minimally invasive liver surgery, liver transplant and other advanced liver disease treatments.

When it comes to liver disease, a quick diagnosis is critical. We utilize advanced diagnostic technologies in order to provide fast, accurate results. For diseases that are preventable, such as hepatitis B, Beaumont works to educate the community and offers preventative options such as immunizations.

Our liver disease treatment programs include the Royal Oak Liver Center, which serves patients with many types of liver diseases and the transplantation program, which includes liver and kidney transplantation. Our many treatment options ensure you receive the best possible care for your individual situation.

Signs and Symptoms of End Stage Liver Disease

When diagnosing liver disease, specialists will perform a thorough evaluation, listen to the patient’s symptoms, and look for signs of liver disease through a complete physical examination. In addition, the doctor may request additional studies, including a liver biopsy, liver function tests, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) scan, and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan.
