Beaumont is the leader in treating patients with aortic disease with minimally invasive treatment options.
What is Aortic Disease?
Aortic disease is not the most common form of cardiovascular disease; however, disorders of the aorta (the main artery that supplies blood from the heart) can be extremely life threatening. Aneurysms, tears in the inner lining, and ulcers are types of aortic disease that require treatment.
Beaumont Health System takes a collaborative team approach to determine the patient's cause of heart disease and the best heart disease treatment option. With the combined work of the cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, vascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, interventional radiologists, and genetic specialists, the team determines the cause of aortic diseases such as aortic aneurysm, thoracic aneurysm or aortic dissection and consults with patient's physician on a treatment plan.

Aortic Disease Treatment Options
Beaumont specializes in providing our patients innovative treatment utilizing the most minimally invasive heart disease treatment options . The size of the patient's aortic aneurysm will dictate the treatment plan. If the aorta is smaller in size, a "wait and see" approach with regular tests will be recommended. However if the aorta is larger in size, surgery is recommended. Whenever possible, Beaumont will do the least invasive approach.
