Vascular Surgery

Beaumont's Department of Vascular Surgery offers the full spectrum of procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease including noninvasive vascular laboratory testing, advanced imaging techniques and the latest minimally invasive interventional and open technologies. At Beaumont, all vascular procedures take place in dedicated operating and endovascular surgical suites equipped with the most-advanced diagnostic and surgical tools, including highly sophisticated imaging equipment.

A state-of-the-art angiography suite can be used for open procedures, minimally invasive procedures or hybrid procedures. Last year more than 2,900 vascular surgery procedures were performed on patients with the full spectrum of vascular disease. Beaumont vascular surgeons have been at the forefront of applying and perfecting innovative endovascular and vascular procedures through clinical trials, including some of the earliest trials for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm and thoracic aortic aneurysm using stent grafts. The department was one of the top five contributors to the recently completed NIH-sponsored CREST trials showing the safety and effectiveness of carotid artery stents to prevent stroke.

Beaumont's vascular surgeons are all fellowship-trained and board-certified in vascular surgery. They treat all types of vascular disorders. Beaumont vascular surgeons take advantage of all surgical and endovascular options available and determine the best course of treatment for each patient. Whenever possible, minimally invasive techniques are utilized - which means smaller or no incision at all resulting in less discomfort and faster recovery.
