If there are no drug take back locations in your area, use the following instructions to dispose of medications in your trash:
- Mix medications (liquid or pills) with an unpleasant substance such as dirt, cat litter, or used coffee grounds
- If liquid, place in a container such as a sealed plastic bag
- Throw away the container in your trash at home
- Remove all personal information on the prescription label of empty medicine packaging, then trash or recycle the container
