Beaumont Outpatient Campus - Lenox

Project Summary

After conducting a thorough national search, Beaumont Health selected NexCore Group as its development partner for this initiative. The Outpatient Campus in Lenox broke ground in Q1 of 2020 and is the first of its kind for Beaumont. Beaumont Health is Michigan’s largest healthcare system based on inpatient admissions and net patient revenue. With eight hospitals throughout southeastern Michigan, Beaumont recognized the need to bring high-quality and affordable healthcare services to the communities it serves.

The 3-story 109,630 rentable square foot outpatient campus will offer a full continuum of quality outpatient care under one roof in a highly visible location. The outpatient campus is strategically located at I-94 and 26 Mile Road and is designed to maximize convenience and efficiency for both patient and provider. Providers located at this site will tap into a patient pool of 91,800 from the primary service area and an additional 62,000 out-migrating patients from the secondary service area.


Beaumont identified Lenox Township as a key service area to capture market share on the northern corridor of Detroit due to its growing population with limited access to high-quality health care services. NexCore partnered with Beaumont to identify the best location for the outpatient campus along with sufficient acreage for future growth, worked with the municipality to obtain all necessary entitlements, and entered into a long-term ground lease with Beaumont who ultimately acquired the land.


Beaumont sought a design solution that would serve as a product differentiator in the marketplace and help to create a brand that could be carried forward with future outpatient clinics. NexCore’s design team created a building design that was flexible enough to accommodate the acute care needs of the hospital as well as lower acuity spaces. The result was a dual entrance design concept with two-story glass atriums at each entrance to maximize daylight and provide an open and inviting layout. A greeter will be stationed at the entrances of the building to assist in guiding patients and to provide concierge quality service. Public areas available throughout the first floor include a café, lounge space for common area waiting, and a retail pharmacy focused on wellness.

The NexCore project team also designed shared waiting facilities for Beaumont’s services to allow for efficient use of waiting areas, and a shared break room and conference room to create space for Beaumont providers and staff to decompress and collaborate.


This one-stop comprehensive care facility features an optimal complement of independent and employed primary and specialty care providers and corresponding outpatient services based on population and demographics of the service area. Services will be organized in a manner that is integrated with physician care and provided in a convenient, innovative operating model while preserving the brand identity of independent providers. Additional services will be added to the campus in subsequent phases to meet the needs of the growing local community.
