Corewell Health: The new name for Beaumont. Here to make health better.

Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams

Due to the severe weather forecasted for Southeast Michigan, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams for Friday, Dec. 23 and Saturday, Dec. 24. Thursday (Dec. 22) will be our official last night of the year and we welcome you tonight!

The decision was made with the safety of our volunteers and those that would be traveling to attend in mind.

“It’s unfortunate to have to miss out on what would’ve been two wonderful nights, but we’re overall thrilled with the turnout of thousands of community members for our patients,” says Kathleen Grobbel, Child Life Supervisor, Beaumont Children’s. “We’d like to thank everyone that was able to attend and look forward to welcoming everybody back in 2023!”

See you in 2023

We're thankful to everybody that came out to welcome Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams back this year. We look forward to seeing you again in 2023!

Celebrating Safely

Due to the pandemic, there are a few changes for this year that we ask all of our participants to abide by.

We are in constant communication with our infection control team and will be monitoring community COVID-19, RSV and flu rates. We will continue to host Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams this year if it is safe to do so. In the event of Moonbeams being cancelled, we will share that information on this page and on Beaumont’s social media channels.

What is Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams?

Boys at Beaumont Moonbeams

This cherished tradition started in 2017 by Beaumont Children’s nurses and child life specialists as a way of helping Beaumont’s youngest and bravest patients feel connected to their community during the holiday season.

Each December, community members from across Southeast Michigan visit the Beaumont, Royal Oak campus at approximately 8 p.m. to shine flashlights to remind pediatric patients they aren’t alone and wish them sweet dreams.
