Additional drop-off site at Van Buren Twp. opens tomorrow

To better accommodate the processing of community donations, Beaumont Health is expanding and beginning tomorrow is asking donors to drop-off medical supplies at their Van Buren Township facility.

Donations will also be accepted outside the main entrance of the Beaumont Service Center in Southfield, 26901 Beaumont Blvd., through Saturday, April 4 until 6 p.m. Depending on activity, this date may be extended.

“We’re overwhelmed with the generosity and support from the public,” said Beaumont’s Chief Nursing Officer, Susan Grant. “We’re thankful for their donations and grateful Gov. Whitmer’s Stay-at-Home order, still allows area residents to go out and drop off much-needed donations of medical supplies. We thank them for stepping up and making a difference.”

Beaumont Health’s team continues to work together in a coordinated effort to combat the spread of COVID-19, care for patients who have contracted the virus and protect physicians, nurses and staff.

As the number of COVID-19 patients continues to climb, Beaumont Health is now accepting specific medical supplies and donations to help support the health systems ongoing efforts to protect staff and patients during the pandemic.

“We have heard from people all over Michigan who want to donate medical supplies, equipment and money to help with Beaumont’s efforts to protect our staff and care for our patients,” Beaumont Health Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer Margaret Cooney Casey said. “We are so grateful for all the community members who are pitching in to help. We’ll disperse the donations to the areas of greatest need throughout Beaumont Health.”

Effective tomorrow, Beaumont will also begin accepting donations of items listed below at 41965 Ecorse Road, Van Buren Township.

While we appreciate that donors may want to donate other supplies, we’re asking only for certain high priority items at this time.

Most-Needed Personal Protective Equipment

  • New or unused disposable face masks
  • N-95 mask (sometimes called respirators)
  • Eye protection including face shields and safety goggles
  • Disposable gowns
  • Disposable gloves (especially non-latex)
  • Disposable surgical caps
  • Disposable foot covers
  • Wipes: bleach or anti-microbial
  • Hand-sanitizer
  • Home-sewn reusable masks
  • Specialized items
    • PAPRs (powered air purifying respirators) and PAPR hoods
    • Nasal testing swabs
    • Viral testing kits

Items Beaumont will not accept at this time

  • Medications
  • 3-D printed ventilator parts
  • Food
  • Blankets
  • Baby monitors

Note: These kinds of items may be needed later. If Beaumont’s donation needs change, the list will be updated.

The drop-off locations are “touchless” to ensure donor safety with donors placing items directly into bins. Receipts for donations will be available online at www.beaumont.org/giving

Donations are strongly encouraged and appreciated. In order to properly accept donations, Beaumont leadership asks direct drop-off donations can be made to:

Monday through Friday:  9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday:  9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Please check-in at the front door with security for further directions

Donors who are not feeling well should wait until they are well before donating supplies or equipment.
