Unfortunately, many payers do not cover speech and language treatment for children, so families are often in financial distress when their children need ongoing treatment. Beaumont is a Medicaid and Children's Special Healthcare provider and has been approved by other payers.
Through the generous donations made by community leaders and organizations, providing this type of care is possible. These community leaders have developed the Treatment Scholarship Plan. The Treatment Scholarship Plan concentrates money on an individual child based on financial need. If a family meets the criteria for funding, their child will receive the needed treatment for his/her communicative disorder. It is our department's goal to never turn away a child for lack of funding.
