Chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity affect work, family and overall quality of life. But, they are largely considered “diseases of lifestyle” because they can often prevented or reversed through adaptation of a healthy lifestyle that includes active living.

Walking is good medicine

Walking can improve your health and change your life. Just 30 minutes of walking a day (five or more times per week) can substantially reduce the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, type 2 diabetes and colon cancer. Walking can help you lose weight and gain energy. It can help to improve your sleep and even slow down the aging process.

Walking is one of the most powerful things you can do to support your own health. It’s also one of the simplest, requiring no expensive equipment or special skills.
