The Importance of Face Masks

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cloth face coverings are an additional step to help slow the spread of COVID-19 when combined with every day preventive actions and social distancing in public settings.

How to Safely Use a Mask

  • The CDC recommends using cloth masks. N95 or surgical masks should be reserved for medical workers.
  • Before putting on a mask, clean your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitizer.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with the mask and make sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask.
  • Avoid touching the mask while using it. If you do, follow the steps to clean your hands again.
  • To remove the mask:
    • unfasten from behind without touching the front
    • clean hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based rub
