Corewell Health: The new name for Beaumont. Here to make health better.

Anesthesiology Services

Your Safety During Your Care Is Our Highest Priority

When you choose to receive care at Beaumont Health, you and your loved ones aren’t merely scheduling a procedure or surgery – you are placing your trust in us. It’s our job to fulfill your trust by providing the best patient care possible.

Anesthesia can be a critical component of that care. Over the past few weeks, you may have heard that Beaumont recently brought on a new anesthesia provider – NorthStar Anesthesia, a nationally recognized provider of safe, high-quality anesthesia services. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services national quality and performance standards, NorthStar ranked in the 95th percentile of providers nationally in 2019. This was one reason Beaumont selected NorthStar in a competitive process to replace our prior contracted anesthesia care company.

While we changed our company provider, the fundamental elements of our anesthesia program remain unchanged, and many of our providers are the very same people who have been working at Beaumont for many years.

As you prepare for your appointment, here are key facts to keep in mind:

  • Beaumont’s strict credentialing and quality standards remain the same. All our anesthesia providers, physicians and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) follow our robust credentialing program that is led by senior executive physician leaders alongside the Chief of Anesthesia. We refuse to allow anyone who doesn’t meet our high standards to work at Beaumont.
  • Beaumont and NorthStar are committed to retaining and recruiting the best anesthesia talent. Our anesthesia providers have a history of clinical excellence. Many have been on staff at Beaumont for many years. They graduated from impressive universities and completed their training at prestigious hospitals.
  • Anesthesiologists are supported by Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (“CRNAs”). Previously, Beaumont directly employed CRNAs. Now, our CRNAs are employed by NorthStar, a change that enhances our model of care and is a national best practice.
  • Our anesthesia team collaborates and plans your care with your physician. This begins from the moment your surgery is boarded and scheduled, noting any special requirements.
  • Pre-anesthesia screening occurs for all patients. Prior to your surgery or procedure, you will be contacted. At this time if you have any special concerns or questions the pre-anesthesia team cannot answer, we will connect you with our Chief of Surgery or Chief of Anesthesia.
  • Our team will create a personalized anesthesia plan of care for you. You will meet your anesthesiologist before your surgery, and you will be carefully monitored during and after your surgery.

Most importantly, our commitment to you - our patients - remains the same: We will provide you with compassionate, extraordinary care every day. Our goal is to keep you safe and comfortable.
