• Maternal-fetal medicine for high-risk pregnancy: Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists, also called perinatologists, focus on the medical and surgical management of high-risk pregnancies. This includes monitoring and treatment such as comprehensive ultrasound, chorionic villus sampling, genetic amniocentesis and fetal surgery or treatment. Beaumont's specialists are obstetrician-gynecologists who have undergone an additional two to three years of specialized training in the assessment and management of high-risk pregnancies throughout pregnancy, labor and delivery and postpartum.
• Premature and critically ill newborn care: Beaumont's has state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care units (NICU) at our Royal Oak, Troy and Dearborn hospitals. Board-certified neonatologists are on site 24 hours a day to provide care, along with a multidisciplinary team experienced in treating premature newborns. The units are family-centered and provide the latest in treatment for pre-term and critically ill infants requiring advanced care by neonatologists.
• Reproductive genetics and genetic counseling: Beaumont's genetic counselors have special training and are board-certified in genetics. The Reproductive Genetics program, both pre-conception and pre-natal, helps expectant parents understand and assess the risk of having a child with a genetic or chromosomal condition.
