Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills welcomes all to attend its free 'Walk with a Doc' program from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 16. If you have irritable bowel syndrome or IBS, you know how it can negatively affect your quality of life. While there's no cure for IBS, there are ways you can improve its symptoms. Gastroenterologist Dr. Katie Sumnicht will be discussing dietary changes, medication, probiotics and other topics relevant to IBS.
"The causes of IBS are not clear," said Dr. Sumnicht. "However, patient education and a good doctor–patient relationship are important components of care for those with this gastrointestinal disorder."
Walk with a Doc will be held at the Heritage Park Nature Center in Farmington Hills. The park is on the west side of Farmington Road between 10 and 11 Mile Roads. The event will be held rain or shine. For more information, call Caroline Schairer, Walk with a Doc coordinator, Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills, at 248-442-1661.
