Do you enjoy taking outdoor group walks?

Are you interested in learning more about the latest trends in health and wellness management?

Then consider registering for Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe’s upcoming Walk with a Doc events, held on the picturesque grounds of the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores.

Beaumont, Grosse Pointe’s, Laurie D. Donaldson, M.D., will discuss knee osteoarthritis, Tuesday, April 25. Check in and blood pressure checks will take place 10:30 to11 a.m. Knee osteoarthritis overview will take place 11 to 11:30 a.m. The walk will take place 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Dr. Donaldson, board-certified in sports medicine, will discuss how to get started with an exercise program. An assistant professor with the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, she cares for athletes and has served as a team physician for USA Hockey.

Joel Kahn, M.D., and Shannon Farrell, RN, will discuss heart disease prevention and reversal via plant-based nutrition, Tuesday, May 16. Check-in and blood pressure checks will take place 10:30 to11 a.m. The plant-based nutrition overview will take place from 11 to11:30 a.m. The walk will take place 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Dr. Kahn is a board-certified cardiologist and professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. A prolific author, his first book, “The Whole Heart Solution” was featured in a national, PBS special.

Asha Shajahan, M.D., will discuss the connection between art, music and health, on Friday, June 9. Intertwining her mother’s story of early onset dementia, Dr. Shajahan will explain how music and art can stimulate the brain and improve health and well-being.

Check-in and blood pressure checks will take place 10:30 to11 a.m. An art, music and health overview will take place 11 to 11:30 a.m. The walk will take place 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Dr. Shajahan is the medical director of Community Health for Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe, and assistant professor with the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. She is passionate about improving health opportunities for underserved populations and empowering all patients with natural therapies for wellness.
