Beaumont Health in collaboration with the Michigan Opioid Prescribing Engagement Network and local law enforcement agencies are encouraging people to drop off unused or expired prescribed medications Friday, Oct. 22 at Beaumont hospitals in Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak, Taylor, Trenton and Wayne. On Saturday, Oct. 23 medications will be accepted at the Sterling Heights Medical Park across from Beaumont Hospital, Troy. Drop off hours, at all locations, are from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Staff at the take-back sites will also accept over-the-counter medications. Both prescribed and OTC medications will only be collected in the form of pills. No questions asked. Organizers prefer pills be in a plastic baggie. Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn; and the Sterling Heights Medical Park site will also accept medical sharps, needles and empty syringes, in a puncture-proof container.
