Transport yourself and your family back in time by taking part in the second annual Beaumont Red October Run at Dearborn’s most historic venue - The Henry Ford.
The Red October Run is part of Beaumont’s longstanding focus on wellness and physical activity. The running and walking event, established in 1991, was an annual event for 25 years in the city of Wayne. The annual tradition is now being held at Greenfield Village.
“This is a great opportunity to work with The Henry Ford to host a beautiful run through American history,” said Cindy Cook, special programs manager, Beaumont Health. “This event supports our goals for healthy communities throughout Southeast Michigan, and is also an opportunity to create memories with your friends, family and colleagues that will last a lifetime,” she added.
All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Featured events include a 5K run, 5K walk and a 1-mile “Jr. October” for children 12 years old and under. All participants will receive a commemorative shirt, custom race bibs and a finisher medal. There will be a certified 5K course and official B-Tag timing with immediate access to results, with awards in the 5K running and walking events and free participant photos. The event also includes refreshments, health displays and post-race admission to Greenfield Village for registered participants.
The event will be limited to 1,500 participants and pre-registration is required. All proceeds support youth fitness and nutrition programs in conjunction with Beaumont’s Healthy Communities Initiative.
Early packet pick up will be available Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Beaumont Learning and Innovation Center, 18200 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn.
