Beaumont Health is pleased to announce the following recognitions recently received by 12 employees and two facilities:

Goldman recognized by Michigan High School Football Coaches Association

Steve Goldman, D.O., an osteopathic manipulative medicine specialist, Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills, was conferred the Honorary Lifetime Membership Award from the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association for 24 years of service as team physician. He is the longest serving active member of the Walled Lake Western High School football program.


Jeffries appointed by Gov. Snyder to EMU board of regents

Eunice Jeffries, regional community affairs manager, Beaumont Health, was recently appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder to the Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents. Only three universities, MSU, UM and WSU, elect members of their governing boards; the remaining schools, like EMU, have their board members appointed by the governor.


Two sites named exemplary health care parking facilities by U.S. Green Building Council

The new parking deck at Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills and the parking lot lighting retro-fit at Beaumont Medical Center, Macomb Township were cited for lighting efficiency. Based on the reported energy savings, Beaumont Health was selected as the 2016 award winner for “Exemplary Healthcare Sector Parking Facility” by the U.S. Green Build Council.


Kazyak to receive MHA’s ‘Speak Up!’ Award

Karen Kazyak, RN, Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, demonstrated her commitment to patient advocacy and is being recognized by the Michigan Health & Hospital Association. She will receive their Keystone Center Speak-up! Award on March 1. This statewide recognition celebrates patient and staff safety.


Rustom elected president of National American Arab Nurses Association

Moe Rustom, RN, director, Multicultural Health, for four Beaumont Health hospitals: Dearborn, Taylor, Trenton and Wayne, has been elected president of the National American Arab Nurses Association. NAANA is a voice, network and resource for advancing the scope and profession of nursing.


Geisert successfully completes Certified in Healthcare Compliance Examination

Dawn Geisert, senior vice president and chief compliance officer for Beaumont Health, has successfully completed the Certified in Healthcare Compliance Examination, earning the CHC designation. Compliance professionals are tasked with assuring that health care providers follow federal, state and local regulations that govern the delivery of care.


Fleming accepted into ‘Teach for Quality’ by MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine

Angela Fleming, D.O., an OB-GYN on staff at Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills, was accepted into the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s 2017-18 Teach for Quality, or Te4Q, program. Te4Q is an intensive program focusing on the integration of quality improvement and patient safety into residency training through scholarly activity.


DeChellis named outstanding leader by MICPA's Healthcare Task Force

Jack DeChellis, CPA, director, Sponsored Programs Administration, received an award from the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants in recognition of his outstanding leadership on behalf of the MICPA’s Healthcare Task Force. The Task Force is responsible for designing and presenting the annual MICPA Healthcare Conference and serves as a resource to other MICPA Task Forces and professionals with health care-related matters.


Labelle honored with MPTA’s Outstanding Student Award

Oakland University and the Michigan Physical Therapy Association selected Lauren Labelle as the “Outstanding Student” of the year in OU’s Physical Therapy graduating class. Lauren recently completed her internship and student clinical rotations at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe. She became a physical therapist in January.


Schwartz recipient of MPTA’s Noreen Clouten Outstanding CCCE Award

Kimberly Kane Schwartz, a physical therapist at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe, is the recipient of the Michigan Physical Therapy Association’s “Noreen Clouten Outstanding Center Coordinator of Clinical Education Award.” Kim fosters the education of more than 20 students a year between multiple universities and multiple sites, including the hospital and three outpatient sites.


McKanna and Tuckfield recognized as ‘Outstanding Team’ by MPTA

Kasey McKanna and Peggy Tuckfield from Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe received the “Outstanding Team” award given by the Michigan Physical Therapy Association. The award highlights a physical therapist and physical therapist assistant who work together to provide outstanding care to patients.


Ross named Outstanding Physical Therapist Assistant by MPTA

Joan Ross, a physical therapy assistant at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe, was named an “Outstanding Physical Therapists Assistant” by the Michigan Physical Therapy Association. She was nominated and chosen for her flexibility and teamwork.
